Monster Hunter Rise Early Access Demo Gameplay

تم نشره في 2021/01/ 7
We go on the hunt against Mizutsune in the The Monster Hunter Rise Early Access demo on the Nintendo Switch with the Longsword! Keep an eye out to see the new wire bug and mounting system all in action.
Monster Hunter Rise marks the first brand-new Monster Hunter game to release on Nintendo Switch, and much like Monster Hunter World before it, it shakes up the series' formula in some novel ways. Perhaps its biggest innovations are the Palamute and the Wirebug, both of which are showcased prominently in the game's free Switch demo.
We had a chance to play an early access version of the Monster Hunter Rise demo, sampling its two training missions and its two proper hunts. The former are designed to show newer players the ropes, while the latter send you off to slay the Great Izuchi--one of Rise's new monsters--and the returning Mizutsune.
You can check out some gameplay of all four demo missions in the video above. For more on the game, be sure to check out our roundup of everything we know about Monster Hunter Rise, as well as our preorder guide for a detailed look at the game's different editions and preorder bonuses.
Monster Hunter Rise launches on Switch on March 26. Capcom is also releasing three Monster Hunter Rise Amiibo figures alongside the game that same day, which will unlock exclusive gear in the title.

  • I am debating on getting this. Honestly, no other 2021 upcoming releases look even slightly appealing to me.

  • I have a 9 year old little sister who was scrolling through the news on our switch and watching trailers for games. she stumbled across the trailer for this game and she liked it so we downloaded the demo. cant wait play it when it releases :)

  • It looks pretty sick it’s still downloading on my switch tho

  • I expect to see a turf war in this video, but...

    • @Null_96 Can confirm. It happens in the Great Izuchi hunt, where Angry Pooh (Arzuros) barges in mid-fight. Was able to control both monsters. Used Pooh to land the final blow. Please note that the strong attacks take just as long of a windup as when they are fighting you.

    • No scripted turf war in this demo, but when another monster appear, the monster you currently fight will attack the invading monster and the attacked monster will be available to ride

  • Sly Cooper thumbnail 😐

  • Honestly Capcom constantly switching consoles to put a new MH games just makes me not wanna buy it. This is why i barely bought anything after Tri. Having to buy a new console or handheld every game because they can't stick to one console or have the game on numerous consoles/PC.

  • Probably more playable on day 1 than cyberpunk will be by the end of this year

  • I can not fathom how incredibly well this runs and looks on the Switch. I've heard it was made with RE Engine? If so I love that thing even more.

    • Final boss will be Mr. X calling it now

  • This is going to sell like crack cocaine in japan.

  • Soap Bubbles monster looks good in this game

  • The movie couldn’t even emulate a fraction of what this series is all about. And to get even more of an idea there’s a fantastic video called “Monster Hunter: a culture of danger” on AR-one that shows even more to the series and its story.

  • I've never played Monster Hunter before but I'm intrigued!

  • I cant figure out this game demo lol. It lets me hit once and then I cant hit anymore and I dont know what any of the buttons do 💀

  • Looks n plays amazing can't wait

  • 7/10 not enough foliage

  • It looks promising and I really like like the ancient Japan vibe this game wants to express. But especially because of this(kind of) new art style,I hope it‘ll run smooth.30fps is fine, but please developers, don‘t make it Hayrule warriors Age of calamity 30fps.

    • @Elk nice,I was expecting the worst case scenario

    • No, it runs super smoothly. No frame drops

  • It's hard to really get into it when I'm frustrated seeing how poorly it's being played 🤦🏾‍♂️

    • Watch Gaijin Hunter or Arekks gaming

  • Question from someone unexperienced in Monster Hunter... I know generally these games are built around loot grind. Fight enemies to get better loot to fight bigger enemeies repeat. I've never really been into this kind of game, but I do like the look of Monster Hunter's combat. Is Monster Hunter Rise going to have a single player that can be accomplished without the grinding? I don't mind a difficult campaign, I just don't like having to run my head into a wall for hours on end just leveling/loooting up.

    • It isn't as much of a slog as it seems at first glance: there are plenty of smaller quests to hunt the smaller monsters before the quest for the boss monster pops up. In a sense, it is kinda like pokemon in that regard, but you are the one gaining experience and materials. The grinds only typically happen in what is pretty much the post-game, where Capcom throws everything including the kitchen sink at you, with absurdly humongous monsters you run around on top of. That said, the post-game is what veterans are most interested in, as most of the exciting action (read as "point where you are most likely to faint three times and fail the quest") happens there. This game is not as unforgiving as Dark Souls, and you can totally make fights easier with items. You can even run off mid-fight with boss monsters to go gather healing items if you want. The 50 minutes provided each quest is typically ten to twenty fighting a boss with the rest leisure or recovering time during the story campaign, and the time passes much quicker while fighting than you think.

    • I mean, you cooould get through the solo "campaign" without grinding but it might get pretty hard at some spots. Dude, I say if you like the aspect of the combat and gameplay, give it a shot. The grind is honestly the thing I like the least about the games, still it's my favorite series. Plus, Rise feels amazing, by only playing the demo I can tell this is going to be my favorite one.

    • nope, if you dont like the grind, then get this game out of your head. i'm still grinding in monster hunter world after 3 years to beat some monsters :))))) the grind in these kind of games are brutal

  • I originally finding the environment looks a little flat, but I'm impressed by the monster designs and their animations. Got the game here: freeswitchgame(.)com

  • GET SO MANY FIFA 19/20 & 21 MODS ON MY CHANNEL! UP TO 2000 NEW FACES ADDED IN THE GAME, 200 NEW BOOTS, SO MANY REAL NEW TATTOOS, 2020/21 KITS AND FULL UPDATE ETC!!!

  • i have never played MH before, is it coop?

    • It can be played with up to 3 other players including yourself (4 total).

    • It can be played solo, but its honestly more fun coop in my opinion

    • You can play MH solo but also go on hunts/expeditions with other players

  • The music sounds like the naruto and ghost in the shell soundtracks had a baby.

    • That's Mizu theme and its amazing

  • sooo.... no evade slashes? no helm's breaker? no ai slash? or did this guy just not use them? I'm gonna be sad if they're not in the game...

    • He used Foresight slash at some point. But it seems they wanted to focus on the mew Wirebug counter instead. From the weapon trailer, everything in World is all still in this game so no need to worry

  • Has anyone figured out if you can invert the camera in the demo

  • On what platforms will this be on?

    • @The Confused Llama if it does come to pc it will still be switch console exclusive and it wont be till the end of the year

    • Apparently it's a timed exclusive in which it'll come to PC, but idk about that. I'd rather get the Switch version anyway since it can be handheld

    • @lets game Shiet

    • Switch exclusive

  • This game looks awesome, but I can't for the life of me, figure out where you can see the monster's health. Please help me understand

    • @Bowser you go to Smithy in the town to craft new gears and upgrade them with the materials you collected from hunting monsters and other stuffs you can gather from maps They always explain how it worked as soon you started the game, so you don't have to worry of missing that out though

    • @Eko Subandie sorry I am new to this series and I hav a question. How can u upgrade the weapon in this game ?

    • @randomvids if the battle began to drags on longer than the previous one and in some cases your hits starts get deflected alot when hitting monster parts then you know you've reached the point where you need to upgrade your weapons Just keep upgrading them to the highest level available at that point whenever possible if you don't wanna be bothered too much by it though

    • You’ll know when to upgrade when you stop seeing your damage numbers.

    • @Anthony Key that's fun and all, but how will I know when, for example, I need to upgrade my weapons if I don't have a health bar to show me how much damage I'm doing compared to the monster's health? I wanna get into the series but I wanna understand a bit more about that.

  • This is probably one of the only good looking third party Nintendo Switch games.

  • Monster hunter water looking good, no way with reflection too

  • I was hoping for more mobility. I enjoyed Freedom Wars and God Eater 3 because of the mobility. Monster Hunter feels too clunky and cumbersome, so I can never get into them.

    • Those 2 games has fast paced combat while monster hunter is very slow methodical and very micro managing i do like monster hunter but i still prefer freedom wars especially you can used alot of guns in the game and god eater is very anime hack and slash combat.I hope sony bring back freedom wars tho.

  • wth, the sound of attack is dumb , i cant feel the longsword landing on the monster

  • looks a little too blurry to be enjoyable

  • The only issue I have with this is lack of feedback. I can't feel the impact of the attack. Like, in MHGU you actually can feel (by sfx mostly) that you slashing with you big ass longsword. And there is like "plop. Plop. Another plop"... I really hope this feels much more impactful in actual game

    • It's the lack of any kind of haptic freedback for me. I want to FEEL that Hammer Impact Crater!

    • maybe with higher sharpness there'll be more hitlag

    • That's what I noticed too, I also have an issue with the wirebug animations making your hitbox bigger.

  • I will say I don’t love the big ass red arrow in the middle of the screen, BUT, it’s miles better than the painfully annoying fireflies.

  • Okay this looks good.

  • Umm excuse me.. you dropped your NierAutomata.mp3 file into the Monster Hunter Music folder🤣🤣

  • Saw thumbnail, thought this was digimon

  • Was not much into World, it looked great but played mediocre. Rise could be the best MH game ever by a long margin.

    • @Game Queen Well it really just depends on what monster your fighting. If your fighting, extreme behmoth, tree monster from witcher, or any of the iceborn elder dragons then it can be a challenge. Even raging brachydos was annoying. Iceborn is where all the challenge is. Took me several hours to solo Fatlis. Most monster hunter hit like trucks. Even Furious Rajang is difficult. I just like the gameplay improvements overall and the online community. They fixed most of the stuff that made the past games tedious at times. I'm glad is sticking to those improvements

    • @EXALTED REVERSE I can play the old games still no problem lol. Speak for yourself. I don't disagree with World's upgrades or anything but I still found it easier. I had so many moments where it felt like the monster should be knocking me over or to the side because I was directly on them and they were trashing but I stood there like nothing was happening. The hitbox changes are def more easy going and that's just true. Yah it's nice you can move a bit while healing and craft instantly. I'm fine with them keeping all these changes but the game was def easier in terms of spacing and contact with the monster and the fact the game didn't even have g rank missions when it launched. That's just true. I say this as someone with over 500 hours in MH4U and I at most got up to high rank in World and stopped playing. Loved the QoL stuff but it def felt easier. TO ME PERSONALLY maybe you feel the difficulty is the same but I felt like it was patting me on the head a little when I was standing next to monster and it trashed a bit and I did not so much as trip a little. Something that big moving should feel like it's THERE and effecting your movement too.

    • @Game Queen It would seem easier cuz the fixed so much terrible gameplay mechanics in world like players can lock on now. Skill trees are easier to follow, instead of how they were last time. They have the farm, so you dont have to waste time. For a skill to be active in the previius games, you needed it to get to 10. Having 9 skill points wont acitvate the skill which was bad. In the old games you had to craft 2 arnour sets, one for range and one for close range rather thn having one armour set in world. The older games had terrible hit boxes from mosters such as plesioth and rathloses tail. Older MH is only harder because the games were much less polished and tedious. Aside from older game hitboxes being way, way more broken, there's also the other thing of small monsters being way more disruptive and attacking you way more often. People today complain of Konchus. But nothing, in my opinion, holds a candle to how annoying Vespoids were in older games. Not to mention the rubbish healing system. Your character does an animation which you would get hit by unless you go to another section of the map. Even the combat felt a bit clunky. Now thag you can heal and run in world, it is way more fast paced. Plus no constant loading screens from the past games that take you our of the experiance. Plus world had the best online community, combat, level design. The world just feels alive. The older games did have some if the best elder dragons though. It's just hard to to go back to the old games after all these improvements.

    • I personally found World to be easier myself and played some World but never got into it as much as Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate or Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. This looks like a hybrid of the new (world) and old games so I'm way more interested.

    • Played medicore? It played the best out of any other monster hunter. It had the best combat and level design. The fact that your character didn't do a stupid animation to he so the monster get free hit alone is enough. Plus no broken hitboxes and slow combat like in the previous titles. I mean, have you really played the game to make a invalid statment like that? They literally copied most of the combat, open world and quality of life improvements into rise.......

  • This is mh world and it’s older brothers combined and what I’ve been waiting for since mh2 Im dropping 60 for this opening day

    • Do armour types matter in this game? I found I could burn through MHW with like 2 sets and barely any hunt prep. I hope that's addressed in this game.

  • The spirit attack is now faster

  • Visuals - Final Fantasy shiney Music-Okami with a hint of Nier Dat's a nice cocktail!🍹

  • How to get the demo im in Spain there isn't in the eshop

  • I can't wait anymore I'm so hyped in this game i want to ride valstrax and go supersonic speed 🤣😅

    • Wait? We can ride Valtrex now?!?!?

  • 19:18

  • 18:00 OST is LIT

  • Yup... day/night cycle :) Night 5:00 Day 16:00

  • strong game of the year contender right here...

    • @Don Pasquale actually this years switch has potentially many goty coming out, this bowt2, bayonetta 3, possibly odyssey 2 and a a few games that could win in their genre like smt5

    • @Don Pasquale Animal Crossing did win some game of the year awards lol I guess it depends on the editorial company. Unless you only watch that lame ass game show we all know was rigged 😂

    • @Don Pasquale we all knew TGA's GOTY award is rigged so I don't really expect Rise to even win GOTY though, but I could see it winning the Best RPG award just like World in 2018

    • Definitely not lol. Unless it's Mario or Zelda there's basically 0 chance that any Switch exclusive would win a GOTY award. Not to mention that MH games have a relatively niche audience and this one in particular doesn't look like it's doing anything all that different from what World already did 3 years ago. It could win Switch GOTY, though.

  • 13:20 the soundtrack tho

    • @Null_96 Ok, she looks amazing.

    • @Damien Lombana its a he actually

    • I’ve waited to see this monster since generations ultimate and to see her And hear her amazing theme again. My fav song from the series.

    • @Andres Castaño Yup! I agree.

    • Reminds me of Nier: Automata which is a great thing!

  • Do you have to pre order to get demo

  • Can't find it on the store...???

    • @MaxPlays it does but it wouldn't work for this

    • Idk if this works but you could try making an account in a different region where the time is ahead. I believe it works for Xbox and ps. You just have to make an account from New Zealand. It's worth giving it a shot to see if it works on switch.

    • It will definitely be out tomorrow for everyone at least!

    • Same. I think we have to wait till midnight but I'm sure there is another way

  • Oh yeah. Do you love me? 😍💋 💝💖❤️

  • Dude that Mizutsune hits so fucking hard and also moves really fast, looks like they reduce the kind of "turn based" feeling of older games and World because of the Wirebug, which I honestly like since it makes the fight feel more fluid

  • Dat remixed theme

  • Can't wait till March!

  • Will items be less complicated than the first game? Only thing i didnt like

    • First game... You mean the very first game? The unrefined one? I mean, the lightning rods were phased out in gen 3 so you don't need to worry about weather. The most complicated process I can think of when it comes to items is place bomb, hit bomb (typically after moving away) to make it explode. Meat bait is pretty much useless except for very specific monsters like Jho, the monster that is the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar on steroids.

    • Items are pretty much complicated in each game. Speaking for mhw though, all you really need to worry about are max potions ancient potions, and mega potions. Everything else kinda falls by the wayside.

  • The music tho

  • What do i have to do to get it? Mainly cause I can’t find it

    • If you are from europe, you have to wait until tomorrow

  • I'm happy they removed the loading screens from each section of the map. Love how it plays in monster hunter world

  • Game looks great. Can't wait to grab it for my Switch. Would prolly be my first time really getting into Monster Hunter.

    • It's a great franchise, hope you enjoy your first monster hunter

    • @Laura 18 [f.u.с.к мe] ТАР 0N МY РIC stfu karen

    • @Laura 18 [f.u.с.к мe] ТАР 0N МY РIC LOL why you so angry ?

    • @Laura 18 [f.u.с.к мe] ТАР 0N МY РIC what??

    • @Laura 18 [f.u.с.к мe] ТАР 0N МY РIC Why are u so rude karen

  • it's soo good 😍

  • Not for me

  • Only switch or other console?

    • @Edu D yeah, but this rumour is based on official informations from Capcom, due to their massive data leak

    • @yokokazuo that's just a rumour

    • @yokokazuo It's limited exclusive

    • Switch console exclusive, but I think I heard it might be coming to PC.

  • I want this on the series X....

  • Hopefully launches on pc one day

    • @Echang Wang yeah it's not possible to emulate older switch games and ones not as graphically demanding This game also uses the re engine which will be a first so it will definitely be a while before it will have good emulation

    • The Switch is really easy to emulate. This will probably run fine through emulation.

    • @Godzilla vs. Kong He don't know any better, it's just a cat with some internet access.

    • @Godzilla vs. Kong Yeah I didn't know that till now. Sorry.

    • @Just Some Cat With Internet Access It's a rumor from a hacker, nothing confirmed.

  • Nyc

    • 👆🏾👆🏾

  • I’m getting this!!

  • I WANT IT

  • First

  • Aw ye I'm ready!
