Cyberpunk 2077: Demo vs Retail Gameplay

تم نشره في 2020/12/17
Take a look at this video comparing the first ever gameplay demo of Cyberpunk 2077 with its final retail version captured on PC.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been a long time coming. Since the game was first revealed in 2012, we had to wait six years before we saw a 48-minute long work in progress gameplay video.
Now, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally been released, and we can compare those work in progress visuals to the finished product. In the above video we compare scenes from two key moments in the game, an early mission where V and their friend Jackie Welles are on a job to rescue a wealthy woman who has been kidnapped by scavengers, before visiting the Ripperdoc to enhance V's cybernetics. Then, we take a look at a second mission, where V and Jackie met Militech agent Stout, and infiltrate the Maelstrom gang hideout to pick up an advanced bot for fixer Dexter DeShawn.

For more graphics comparisons, check out our look at the game running on a base PS4 and a PS5. Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia.

  • Removing 3rd Person cutscenes way a huge mistake. Even in Fallout 4 you could atleast see your character in dialogues. It brings more personality to your character in my opinion.

  • the graphics are better in the retail version, but everything else shown and promised in the demo is way cooler

  • Hmm, flying cars. Yum

  • The scissors look better in the demo

  • Looks so much better in retail. This plays quite well on XSX. But I am waiting on the next-gen patch to really jump in

  • Great Tune

  • Dunno why they’ve censored ANY of it, if you aren’t old enough to buy the game you shouldn’t be watching! 🤣

  • playing on easy? XD wtf

  • It looks great

  • Game was actually really good

  • Video game showing mutilation and murder...bleeps out curse words... What the fuck Gamespot? 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • DEMO is still my preference

  • people talking about retail vs demo, ever hear of Anthem? 😬

  • Is the game still buggy?

  • *Most overrated game of the decade. In any version on any system*

  • Why character model always look slightly bigger in "demo" or early access than in the retail version, that always bothers me, one good example is demos soul remake, in the demo the character looked a bit bigger or closer.

  • The Trauma Team are some pr1x

  • I present to you: the only destructible wall in the game

    • There is a few, but they are pretty much all in that one room.

    • Sadly...

  • DEMO is lie. CDPR is fuck'in scammer.

  • Retail way betttttterrrrerrr

  • Doesn’t Jackie actually tackle him if you take the window?

  • 0:43 You censor her chest but you don't censor her guts.. I don't get how that makes sense

    • @Alex Grey Yep you can cut someone's throat but god forbid you see a nipple

    • Same shit different day

    • @Alex Grey Religion boys and girls

    • @Alex Grey you are unironically 100% correct

    • Because in America sex and nudity are scary gore is not.

  • Watering down what "RPG" means is another of this ridiculous game's problems. What a pile...

    • They even changed the game genre to action-adventure.

    • Exactly. If this game is an RPG, then games like Far Cry are RPGs. This game is just an open world shooter.

  • Looks basically the same. Atleast the open mission wasn't a lie

  • Where is that slowmotion thing on the retail? Is it still available as a perks?

    • It's a cyberware mod that slows time by 90% for 3.5 seconds after dodging while aiming, the time can be extended with more mods.

  • Sad that they basically ruined they’re reputation with gamers due to pressure from investors but they mislead them about the state of the game and everything deceived all of us i really dont think anybody should be pulling punches or defending them especially considering the fact they even took many features out while releasing something that runs like absolute shit

  • Look closely. Demo looks better. Have more detail and colour palette/lighting is more consistant.

  • Honestly I just wish we got that pistol from the demo at the start

  • Not often do games look much better at release, well done CDPR, cyberpunk does have its faults but it is overall a stunning game

  • Basically Retail- better graphics but a lot of cut out features Demo-bad graphics and bad detailing and stuff but has more features (which they promised but cut out in the retail) and ofc demo also had 3rd person cut scenes

  • Another two months of milking this shit or what lol?

  • The state of the world when a character's boob needs to be blurred out but seconds later another gets shot in the head point blank. The human body's tools for giving life are more offensive than the tools for taking life. What a sad state.

    • This is AR-one bud

    • Cant you see the difference between sexual and offensive content? Pointless comparison...

    • What are you on about? Its just a game.

    • You can go in uncensored nudity mode

    • So.....do guns turn you on as well?

  • was expecting a video talking about the differences and pointing them out, not some side by side comparison..

  • This is the opposite of what ubisoft does

  • Retail looks so much better than demo

  • Bullet trails and particles in general where insane in the demo, lighting doesn't look worse, they obviously just made some fundamental design choices that had lighting changed. All makes sense and none, I repeat none of it is false advertising like some investors now claim.

  • Should be the base ps4 on the left.....

  • That starting mission is the only complete part of this game though

    • @itscard0man you clearly are though, a sheep for cdpr. I do have the game on Ps5 and it still runs like ass

    • lol I'm just not a sheep

    • @itscard0man sounds like you are a cdpr blind fan.

    • @itscard0man sounds like u are projecting

    • sounds like u dont have or have played the game

  • I got it today for £19 on pc. I've had only 1 problem so far and that was the mouse kept messing up during character customisation so now I don't like my V🙄

  • .

  • I’m bothered that even after all the information that’s come out. You guys keep showing this game on PC. Show the truth. It’s meant for ps4 and Xbox one. Show the gameplay on consoles so people know what they’re buying.

    • @Citizen Goose I know, I have it on ps4. It’s not horrible. But they should be putting out more footage of the game on console. All the commercials on tv advertise this game as a console game.

    • About half of people play on pc, so this does apply to them. They should do demo, ps4, pc. The truth is it runs pretty well on pc, it's ps4/xbox that's the problem... Still a good game though, just poorly optimized on last gen console

  • I hate that there isn't any commentary to point anything out in this video.

  • Video is unwatchable. Why is Before on the right and Current on the left?

  • *Fake Lies* as always with gamespot gtfoh be gone

  • Americans... "It's ok to show a totally mutilated corpse with their guts hanging out, but for God's sake, blur the boob!"

  • This is the only mission that's designed with this amount of quality though... The rest of the main and side jobs are way less detailed and dynamic.

    • @Cypress Willow yeah you're right, but I was talking about the wall destruction physics which never appeared again in later missions, and how the npcs in the apartment reacting by coming out of their apartment doors to see what's going, which makes this world feels a lot more living. Unfortunately, that was just proven as a scripted event and the rest of the city is just a souless empty model. I think the retrieving spider bot mission was really well designed though. You actually had a lot of ways of doing that mission, and they clearly designed this first missions so intricately for attraction, making us believe that rest of the game is equally detailed, which is not the case. The missions are okay but definitely not what a 2020 AAA game should be like, level design is much worst than deus ex, and not even as good as watch dogs 2 I'd say... This game is basically just carried by its story.

    • Like I'm looking to get this game at some point, but if THIS is the best it can offer?(in terms of roleplay)

    • This mission doesn't look like it has any other outcomes though? Literally just giving the girl over to the medics

  • All games nowadays are always fooling consumers. Dont get me wrong. I love this game despite the bugs. MANY people say that the retail is much better than the demo. Clearly, you’re being fooled by the stuff they added. In the demo, I BELIEVE ITS PRE RECORDED. Because all the geometry is so high on detail (subdivisions). You wont be able to play this game if this level of quality was put onto the retail. Including all the effects like color grading, atmospheres and smoke. They’re all much better in the demo that cdpr played back then.

  • What bothers me. The gone gold printed version Was unplayable without the day one update. They knew

  • The music in this game makes me want to Mong some k and md

  • This is not you comparing it gamestop, this is me doing the comparing for you

  • Wonder why they decided to put underware on everyone. I mean it’s not a big change but curious if they got censored or something

    • For releasing world wide easier.

  • Oh my god! not another video comparing the demo and the game ... who cares anymore, get over it please , we know is not perfect but you just ruining the game , the developers that been working years behind it and the people that are enjoying it

    • I don't think you get the point of this video...

  • I play on og xbox. Ive had 2 minor bugs and 3 crashes. Its not as sharp as pc but expected. Lvl 12 st cred 23. 👍From time 2 time the fps does drop. I think they receive to much hate.its very enjoyable.( have heard pc has lots bugs.)

  • Ridiculously manipulative video

  • Retail looks even better, I'm pleasantly surprised.

    • @Dre Fnu Only the best dude. Maybe im wrong iddaknow. Must see it again i suppose ... :D

    • @sloma111 What are you smoking bro?

    • @sloma111 have you played cyberpunk max settings on pc??? It’s infinitely better than the demo. AR-one can’t do it justice.

    • @sloma111 the color palette is more consistent with the retail version. Also theres sincerely more particle effects and animations are much better. Lighting is much much better in the retail version as well. Even the anti aliasing seems to be done more efficiently in the retail version. But it's also important to note that the demo came out QUITE SOME TIME before the final release.

    • Opposite. Look closely. Demo looks better. Have more detail and colour palette is more consistant.

  • Everything in the final game looks better.

  • Wait, you guys actually played the game? What a concept

  • The bgm from this scene also never appeared in the preorder soundtrack either. That was the real shame. About 30 tracks and one of the best ones was missing anyone know where I can get this tune?

    • @DE Media Sound yourwelcome

    • @Iam Amir BMI gaming community to the rescue! I am so grateful, you are a lifesaver my friend! Now the sound track is complete! Hopefully CD Projeckt Red does right by this on Cyberpunk 2077 2.0.

    • Search cyberpunk 2077 scavenger hunt (i think ) on mp3 quack

  • Retail vid has superior aesthetic than the demo. Functionality on demo is superior i.e. 'silent take down with a gun on the water' is better than the retail

  • the neon lights on the sidewalks are a real nice touch. sometimes the smallest details really do make the biggest difference

  • The game is beatifull, but aside from that it's barebones, almost no AI, no complex physics, super basic stealth and many more. At this point everyone knows, except CDPR fanboys. Not saying it's a bad game. It's good, but nothing especial.

    • Those are enough to call this an unfinished mess. Waiting for updates but for now I can't say this is a good game.

    • @Pedja Nedeljkovic The higher ups of CDPR make the Corpos look like knights in shining armor. At least Corpos have the decency to release a polished product.

    • How do you mean fanboys? Do you drink water? You are water fanboy!

    • Stealth is cool if you’re using a netrunner max cool build. You could do a lot of stuff with it

    • The game's cowshit.

  • Isn't it this game is rushed due to player forcing CDPR to release it?

    • Yes but mainly gamespot , IGN etc. that hyped it like hell!!

  • Ah yes, censor that one nipple but leave all the guts and gauged out eyes. Muricah

  • I see why things were removed and changed because either it was getting to big (storage wise), smoothen the gameplay, and somethings would not work when playing with in real time.

  • This game will never live up to the demo quality those cun*s promised us.

  • Jackie use akimbo pistols and future update

  • I don't know much about the company that made this but anyone get dying light vibes?

  • Honestly I prefer the demo version to the retail version of this scene, just because I can't see much of a good reason for why the dialogue and environment needed to be redone. They should've spent that extra time optimizing other parts of the game, IMO. The animations do appear to be considerably better in retail though, but that is to be expected. In some ways the scene looks worse in the retail version, particularly minor details like the shading of the bathtub and the look of the forceps, but in other ways the retail version looks more polished, like with the digital details when the medics arrive and the steam emitting from the buildings.

  • CDPR are lairs and thieves and they'll never get another dollar from me.

  • Look at the curtains when the trauma team arrives. Sad sad sad

    • @Michael Meads 99% 😂😂😂😂

    • @Benedikt Braun 99% of the physics are working properly. You're whining about a tiny detail. Get over yourself

    • @Michael Meads yeah i mean who needs physics effects anyway 🤷‍♂️ glad they removed physics from the game almost completely. So useless 🤣

    • Wouldn't have noticed without you saying something. Quite a nitpick tbh

  • The amount of hud shit is bothering me

  • Haha censored

  • Retail looks a lot better visually, but I wish some of the features shown on the right could’ve been left in.

    • I like the interface for hacking and scans better in the demo also the ads around the city they really went overboard with the sex to the point it fails at making the point they were trying to make and just becomes obnoxious and slightly distracting

    • @Xornedge Adding all the lights and goofy shit did not help. But it's clear they had some kind of plan for Trauma Teams that didn't make it into the full release. I'm guessing you could buy a TT policy and they swoop in and help you if you got hurt/called them in.

    • @Ayush Gupta yeah. The ambulance looks kinda different doesn't it? Like a bit bigger. Just looks cooler :1

    • @Xornedge Look up the same scene with ray tracing on and all setting turned up on pc it looks much better than demo... It's really fun as well just that glitches ruin the whole mood sometimes.

    • I think the demo looks better in certain places due to the lighting and some objects, like the ambulance, look way cooler.

  • So is demo version better?. I mean, I wanna see where the cops pop in ....

  • Spend fukin 3 hours creating character only to play it on first person. Thef cd project ?. Dont you have enough animator and 8 years to do that shit ?.

  • I love how you guys censor curse words spoken in English but y'all don't censor them when they are spoken in Spanish.

    • AR-oner algorithm may not detect Spanish curses as well

    • Probably because some of us don't speak Spanish. I don't.

  • 3:40 just have a look at the scissors on the Demo and how bad it looks in the retail, they've definitely downgraded this game big time.

  • Not a big upgrade for 2 years tbh

  • It looks better and worst at the same time.

  • The gun reticle on the demo is way better, wish they could give the option for different ones

    • @Cauã Bezerra there are like 30 different pistols mate..

    • @Cauã Bezerra that’s because they’re two different pistols.

    • @Anton Schultz i noticed, but i talking about the pistol reticle in the demo, i think it's worse on the final game

    • they do. there’s tons of different reticles

    • I was playing RE: REV 2 and you could change the reticle style and color. Granted options were few and far from limitless but it was still pretty neat.

  • It’s not the glitches, it’s the lies that are the problem with this game.

    • @TheDorkKnight 25 but most people noticed that game wasn't delivered well as the game was marketed.

    • This game is actually very good id give it an 8 out of 10 thank god cdpr managed to deliver an amazing game once again

    • Yup such as the way they market the game of how your actions effects the story line.

  • Retail looks way better!

  • there is allot that got cut out there was even ment to be random encounters if you pissed off the wrong people on top of that the world was ment to be more interactive and life paths were supposed to be more purpose. most of what made the game look so amazing has been cut with that said im enjoying it although the filler side missions are burning me out about some the side missions are great but the majority feel like busy work filler missions to pad out the game.

    • @__ facts and facts honestly that’s the main problem with the game not the glitches

    • I don't really understand this sentiment very well. I know that "hacking to get the blueprint of the house" and "wall running" got cut out of the game. They didn't really show any random encounters in the demo from what I recall. They made vague promises in the gameplay trailer acting as if Night City was to be a breathing open world full of interactive activities and random encounters. It seemed to be marketed as a gta-ISH immersive sim open world with RPG elements that would mostly affect the story. This wasn't the case.

  • Why does your version not have trees from the background randomly popping in everywhere?

    • Because their drivers are up to date? I had the issue but it was gone with the new nvidia drivers

    • Because not everyone has to beg on the streets for a living and plays on a 10 yr old toy

  • I'm so annoyed with how they scrapped nudity from the game after going on about how mature and adult the nudity in their game is. It's also jarring seeing that they censored the man, but not the woman.

    • @Maxbwoy Not to the extent they said there would be. You can see your character naked in the character menu only for some reason. Why even add it then? Just shock value with no meaning. My choice of genitalia never mattered. And almost all of the mature, shameless nudity that was in the game initially was censored. They said the nudity was essential and functional. Its neither.

    • There is full nudity. Do you even have the game?

    • What do you mean scrapped nudity? Loads of nudity in the game still.

  • And what exactly did you show in this video? This was only one starting mission, it wasn't much different from the demo version. If you wanted to show us how they messed it up you should've shown free roam and gameplay in night city. The mossions are scripted, hard not to fuck em up

  • 2 reshade mods and youre good to go.

    • Do those reshade mods fix the rest of the broken game?

  • The retail is nice, but textures are too saturated and overall lighting was far away better in the demo. You can look at the sky and the deep fog Is Just perfect. For example look at the "tengu" sign or the air conditioners in the trauma team scene.

  • detail of the cloth to the right at 4:05

  • I think I definitely prefer the lighting in the demo, but otherwise, the game looks really good

    • @PRITHVIM7 Yeah. I just prefer the softer lighting, honestly

    • Are you serious lol?

  • the demo have more post-processing

  • I am curious what is that pistol V has in the 2018 gameplay? Did it even make into the game?

    • @Bich Phuc yeah its like they were inspired by the Glock 18

    • @WhiteHaired Lizard it’s a pretty badass pistol!

    • Lexington pistol. I think this is the one

  • what are the specifications and settings for the PC rig in this comparison?

    • Google's quantum computer

  • should have had more previews of when the game freezes in the middle of a mission and goes back to the console home screen for an honest reveal ......

    • Why would we care about those u underpowered toys?

  • Really the only main thing missing is some cloth physics and maybe some debris, other than that it's spot on.

  • Now show the real game and not the scripted intro

    • @__ the 48 minutes demo was way better (2018 btw) on anything, on Reddit you can find a complete list of things that got removed or changed from that gameplay Also, it's possible that CDPR is paying Gamespot, so yes, it's damage control The real game is broken beyond imagination, finished it in 45 hours doing also side quests (all of the big ones) and I am not touching it again until is fixed, 1 year minimum of development You may ask why I didn't refund, and the reason is Stadia free chromecast, always wanted to try Stadia and that was the best deal

    • You're going to get the same result dude.... If this really bothers you, just check out Nick930's comparison. You'll just realize that the demo was literally nothing special aside from "wall running" (which didn't work) and "hacking to get a blueprint" (which honestly doesn't make a huge impact gameplay wise). In addition, why in the world would GAMESPOT damage control cyberpunk? That makes no sense to me...

    • real game looks better

    • damage control ;)

  • Breathtaking! i love this game! After couple patches it will be GOTY

    • Hopefully, I feel bad for the devs and Keanu. The game’s amazing it’s just super buggy

  • moral of the story is: never believe what you see at E3

  • demos better xD

  • never stop being real gamespot!
