Destiny 2: Beyond Light Review

تم نشره في 2020/11/25
With Beyond Light, Destiny 2 can still get cyclical and repetitious, but its new abilities and improved storytelling make it feel much more alive.

  • I was a fan too, but now I have removed this game from my console. I 100% agree with your comment. I should be able to play content that I have paid hard earned money for, but obviously Bungie has decided otherwise. As far as I am concerned the Destiny community should boycott this game. I still play Destiny 1 because as it should be I can still access and play all the content I paid for. Shame on you Bungie, but what do you care?

  • Why do people complain about grinding content, that's what Destiny is, if you can't figure that out by now i don't know what to tell you

  • Can I still play Forsaken and Shadowkeep?

  • Yes, in fact, I was still playing it, and at no time was I told when purchasing this product that I would be denied access to it, so as far as I am concerned this is abuse of consumer rights. What is to stop any game developer selling a full price game and then denying the consumer the right to play, It is a matter of principle. This is an example of everything that is wrong with game development and publishing today. As with Cyberpunk 2077 it is abuse of consumer rights and people's expectations. Developers are misleading consumers as are content makers. Everyone is afraid to say how it is because they are in the back pockets of game developers and publishers. Shame on us all.

    • Same. A bunch of quests and other things I was working towards are gone. I’m considering quitting the game.

  • this was a great review, if only this guy reviewed Cyberpunk for them..

  • 4:15 what sniper is that?

  • I miss the old days before seasons. When i didn't feel pressured to play every single week. Now i feel actively punished for taking a break and playing other games, especially due to sunsetting.

  • Beyond Light is actually LESS Destiny. 75.5% of the game's loot just obliterated for no reason, and they only gave us back the equivalent of about 5%. All those favorite guns you grinded hard for and had a big sentimental attachment to? Fuck you, it's not usable in current content anymore for ZERO reason.

  • It's annoying when people defend BL with season passes. "Oh BL isn't done as there are more seasons coming." They are separate purchases.. You don't buy the season pass then your destiny experience is going to be terrible. I want them to move on from locked content that can't be played a year later. I missed the entire saint 14 story as I wasn't able to play the game at that time.. and now I can't even do the missions.

  • I enjoy Destiny in short doses. I will get this when its cheaper. They have received a ton of my cash since D1

    • @spaz co Helll yeah

    • being on gamepass is a bonus

  • Destiny is always going to be a love and hate relationship.... But mostly love since I am still playing it eve though theirs plenty of games out their

  • Hi

  • Honestly i think people are doing “Reviews” way to early they should’ve been first impressions because most of the stuff IGN and GameSpot and the steam reviewers talk about is only a small part of beyond light. Because quite a bit was realased after the raid was finished, and more is to come. Its not very fair to give a full “review” until the dlc/this season at least, is over

    • The campaign, the new exotics, the new area, the raid and the new weapons are "only a small part of beyond light"? Okay, so lets say maybe 20-30%? So what more are we getting? Do tell me

  • As much as I love Destiny I am pretty certain it can not be legal to lock behind a wall content that I as a consumer had originally paid £80 to £100 for. I first bought all the Red War content and expansions as a sold product of Activision. This is seriously a step too far by a developer that I have now lost complete respect for. They are simply making us repay for content that many had already paid for on release when Destiny 2 was not a free-to-play game. This should not be happening and this demonstrates everything that is wrong with gaming today. Pure GREED.

    • @ger1617 also the dlc’s were like 67% during Christmas so like Idk. They could’ve got foresaken and shadowkeep for like 12 bucks

    • @GamerJack Yeah i'm in a mostly PvE clan, so it might be different for you

    • @ger1617 all the friends I’ve had that were completely new took months to even want to do a raid. So idk that’s just me. Also I believe the new raids are better than leviathan by a long shot. The only good raids from it are Leviathan and crown so if those were the only two to come back then I wouldn’t be complaining. EoW and SoS can stay in the vault XD. Don’t worry I strongly believe leviathan is coming back eventually. Tbh they should’ve just kept it in. It didn’t take up that much space, but like why would all the triumphs for leviathan stuff be separated in their own tab separate from the other legacy stuff that you can’t even view triumphs for anymore?

    • @GamerJack I had some new light friends who wanted to do leviathan all the time, some people in my clan server are also new light and they raided when leviathan was around, i don't think it's the lack of desire, it's just the "having to find a fireteam to raid with" part

    • @ger1617 also most new lights don’t even desire to do raids until weeks or even months after they pick up the game. Destiny has a lot of stuff to get used to and most new players don’t even ask what a raid is until they get the hang of things.

  • I'm taking a little issue with the fact that they also review Season of the Hunt in their Beyond Light review, as it's very misleading. Season of the Hunt is NOT included with Beyond Light. It's a seperate purchase. Otherwise; great review. Really gave some nice insight to the state of Destiny 2.

  • Beyond light, in content.

  • It got a 8, that’s one point higher than IGN’s 7! 🥶

  • Destiny would be so much better if it was an actual videogame and not some live service bs

    • It’s a live service video game

    • It is a video game wdym 😂

  • This review was so much better than ign.

  • Lol a fucking 8 😂 ya not even close, this dlc was a solid 5 at best, keep licking bungies tant

  • Is GameSpot better than IGN now?

  • This review is so biased less content more money same content grind. Bullshit

    • There is a reason this game is so popular so chill

  • People bought that removed content though. Every once in a while I liked not doing all the repetitive crap and taking a new char through from the beginning including the first sets of DLC. Now no longer an option so since Beyond Light is yet another purchase subject to the same possibility of being taken away after a few years I'll just consider the whole thing not an option and quit the game whilst I'm behind.

  • Beyond Recycled Content

  • "Just because you could unlock and use tons of guns, doesn't mean they were worth the effort." *SOMEONE FINALLY SAID IT.*

    • @Hollow Eyes those weapons and armors were completely functional. People just stoped to use them because were to old. And the activities had those equipment so it wasn't bad developed stuff. Just stuff ignored by the players. Also, you are the only one saying it is fault of someone. We don't blame no one. Because no one can be blamed of things getting old

    • How is it the communities fault that bungie is bad at making content? No one played those zones or used those weapons or armor because there was no reason to do so, no incentive. Thats akin to a car company Manufacturing a new model of vehicle that has great fuel efficiency and feels great to drive, but the seats are terribly uncomfortable and the electronic accessories break down regularly causing customers to complain about the obvious flaws. The car company doesn't then send a mechanic to charge the customer to remove all but one of the seats and 80% of the accessories because no one uses them then go on to put a new seat cover on the one seat. Thats what we got

    • Yeah this is true, to be honest most of the guns end up in vault, never to be used. This is why I loved pinnacle weapons from post-forsaken era. Then people complained that they couldn´t get them(because it took time and effort lol). And some weapons were clearly outliers in both PVE and PvP so bungo said no fuck this shit, we are nerfing them and then getting rid of them. Honestly the only weapons that were truly worth the effort were exotics that came from quests(which are in last 12 months fucking brilliant), and guns from raids(the new ones are absolutely amazing). The rest of the lootpool is unfortunely just nothing interesting really. Its infusion material mostly.

    • I don't see why people complained about this. The internet holds massive grudges I guess

    • I really agree. If I only could preserve one of them without expire I would be really happy. But no much problem

  • Fuck Uldren, wake me up when they bring back Cayde. Also this game has the worst gear treadmill of anything I've ever played. You spend all this time trying to get better gear with bigger numbers on it but the whole world scales with you so you absolutely NEVER feel stronger than you did before. Its fucking stupid.

  • Complete lack of weapons, recycled content, and a new subclass filled with bugs.

  • This game is still alive?

    • @spaz co Haven’t they all announced it/said that? Saying it has a 10 year plan is just a buzz word they have all been using.

    • @PFT Burchell Bunjie announced it but you can dream.

    • @spaz co They all say that. I’m very doubtful

    • @PFT Burchell there is no third game, dlc had been announced for the next two years.

    • @Bruh Moment Did they remove them all after getting the game back from Actvsion? Because it was littered with them at one point. That & the online always requirement is what kept me away from it. That & the long history of problems the game had. I’m really hoping the third game will be really good. So fingers crossed on that.

  • The PvE is fine, they need to focus on PvP and bring players in there. Every shot is instant death (makes gear irrelevent) and Stasis made matters worse. A health buff or battle buff of -50% damage taken would work as a quick fix until they manage to balance new skills like Stasis.

  • Good review.

  • Oh yeah 👍👏

  • I don't know man it lost its charm to me after borderlands 3 also they priced the expansion for 200 dollars i know it's a free game but that's too much

    • @pitch the ripoff this is why I said "could". Because not even this one. Maybe is the unknown exo edition with a model of her...

    • @PERSONA, NADA MÁS QUE UNA PERSONA the collector's edition isn't even $200

    • I thing only a collector edition could reach 200 dollars

    • $200 what? Its $40. Even the whole year's content is $70 and why would a game like Borderlands that dies for you once you finish it will change someone's opinion abt Destiny?

    • What are you on about the expansion is $40

  • This Halo knock off is still around?

    • @The Last Son this is a hilariously bad take lol

    • @The Last Son its still much better than the new halo games

    • @Dioxety Yes, sir, indeed they did. They tried to improve upon the Halo format and basically created a Halo for those who hadn't experienced it because they refused to purchase an xbox. It's basically Halo rpg for playstation users.

    • They knocked off there own game? Lol.

  • Bungie lost there way to be honest ! I was D1 veteran on PS4! Each new DLC was insane and engaging ! Crota falls, Vault of Glass and Kings Fall was insanely fun and the raid were just amazing. I’ll wait till bungie comes back on track !

    • @Detective Cole Phelps this expansion is pretty good

    • Yup. The expansion isn’t good, this review is bad

  • If you combine all the content from destiny 1 and 2 you still don't have enough content.

  • destiny has such a cool world, lore and stories. unfortunately its completely ruined by the horrible clusterfuck of a grind. i hope bungie will make an actual story based shooter or a single player rpg in this universe one day.

  • Can we all agree, that the best thing that has come out of this expansion, is the space walk in DSC

  • A new raid? Only one?

    • At the end of the season there will be a new raid at glass vaut and there are rumorss of champion enemies and stasis vex

    • there are going to be 3 raids this year

    • Do you even know how hard it is to develop a raid as complex as the ones in Destiny? Asking for more than one at a time is ridiculous. The developed a completely new location along with it. Have you ever seen a full raid in Destiny? Its not something small.

    • There has never been an expansion or destiny game released with more than one raid.

  • Its not about the loot its about the story thats the heart of beyond light and thats facts

  • I see a Destiny video, i do my good deed and drop a dislike.

  • "If you like Destiny, this is less Destiny." X_X

  • I’m glad I. Didn’t buy it been playing d1 and d2 since day one but I’ve had enough, and removing planets annoyed me so I said nope I’ve had enough no more. Still free to play

  • Seasons ruined this game to me 🤔

    • @Tyler Durden true Personally I love the destiny 2 season model but no one is forcing people to buy it.

    • Why? Just play the content you like, it's not that hard to not be a slave to some cashgrabbing BS-System.

  • Seriously though, fuck this game.

  • Finally someone who understands the game, reviews it. They vaulted much of the content, but the content they added is infinitely better than the vaulted content combined. And, this is a better way to reset the game rather than releasing Destiny 3.

    • @Kepo wow has done that. Again. The removed content was played by less than 5% of active players and it was taking up the space of more than 60% of the game. The actual active player base doesn't even care abt the removed content.

    • @Kepo destiny 2 was already bigger than most games. If they kept adding on to it it would take up way too much storage space

    • @Tyler Durden Yeah. There are actually people trying to say that buying forsaken or Shadowkeep is pointless now just because the loot can't be fully upgraded even though the content is still completely playable.

    • Imo there was just to much Loot, good & bad. So they had to remove Loot, and by doing that, they had to remove content, because a special type of player only plays those games for Loot...and there are millions of those junkies that don't care about anything than mone...i mean Loot.

    • @Kepo games filled with bugs as far as I know, they have to do something. I'm not a game developer, I don't know the exact "why".

  • Our guardian has the ATTITUDE of a BLACK TEEN in this update ;)

    • @Mister Matthew its so dumb because how does one jump like a black teen🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ lol peter has done similar moves in his career, hes a white adult lol reviewer deserves all the roasting and smoke

    • @Tyler Durden Some uh...poor phrasing in their Miles Morales review.

    • @jbroti 004 yeah, i am...enlighten me

    • @jbroti 004 LOL

    • @Tyler Durden you clearly are unaware of what he’s referring to.

  • Cons of Europa, there aren't enough fast travel points for such a massive landscape. Storms are cool, but being in there isn't fun.

    • @Tyler Durden i agree it makes you have to travel on land rather than have a system do it for you

    • @Tyler Durden Oh does it? stfu

    • Sounds like 2 pro's to me

  • stupid review

  • Hi

  • Bruhhh 28 seconds into the video and I got all I need to know lmao

  • If Activision still had their way, this would've been Destiny 3

    • @James Murphy yeh maybe it shouldn’t be as much as forsaken. But i enjoy the fact the loot is more compact. Problem with previous dlcs is that they add a whole roster of weapons and most of that loot isnt usable as you progress. Most of the weapons they have added are all competent. Sometimes it isnt about quantity its quality. Then theres the content, there arent any new crucible maps and only two strikes, but it seems that these pieces of content are free anyway to free players. It wouldnt be fair to monetise these. What is monetised are the empire hunts which are pretty good with elective difficulties and target weekly loot and the same with legend lost sectors which are all good pieces of content. instead of grinding endlessly in strikes for any exotic i can grind one activity for one specific exotic which is much better than just a randomised loot table. So far id say this dlc is on par with the taken king.

    • @James Murphy exactly. The price they are asking whilst removing content. Sorry but leaving Activision has not improved Bungie.

    • @James Murphy especially with an awesome loot based mode in ghost of tsushima which trumps overall of these shitty games. Hell avengers has more content

    • Under Activision we would have got more loot in Beyond Light. And it's not like the payment model has improved since Bungie took over. If anything there's more micro transactions and less content for our money. BL was the same price as Forsaken with 25% of the loot, no new PvP maps, no new mods (raid ones don't count) no new modes and in fact they removed more stuff from the game then they added with the content vault. I like the addition of the stasis classes and the new raid but Beyond Light and the new season content is very thin on the ground. People say it's because of the pandemic but that argument doesn't hold up because of how much they actually charged for it.

  • At this point Destiny is Destiny and that’s what has made it successful. They won’t be changing that too much any time soon. Beyond Light is more of the same with slight changes, if you like Destiny then you’ll probably like this (with some complaints as usual)

    • @Zee Man I agree. There's more new things but the things you spend 95% of your time doing are the same.

    • I feel the problem with this expansion is they add a lot but don’t add to the important things like strikes and returning strike specific loot, crucible and. Gambit maps and a damn vendor refresh it just suffers from a very similar thing shadowkeep did and that’s it added things that people will do a little bit then never touch again.

  • The reviewer should have covered more in details how Stasis made Crucible a circus show. Don't get me wrong some enjoyed the overpoweredness of Stasis while others hated it to a fault.

    • @Tyler Durden lmao

    • @yahya musseb played Warframe for some hundred hrs...there's PvP there?!? jk, but Conclave was just for fun anyway imo.

    • Crucible has always been a circus show. If people want a good pvp game Destiny has never been a very good option. Why do you think Destiny has never been big in esports?

    • @Tyler Durden if you thinl pvp in destiny 2 was bad you should join...... The conclave (warframe) and you will change your mind

    • Was PvP in D2 ever good? Hint: it's a trick question

  • Can they just make destiny 3 where it’s a complete package at launch without any expansions and also give us a dogfighting mode

    • @Orgil Batsaikhan that doesn't mean they'll stop after the expansions

    • @Rizzofohshizzle thank goodness, i would like to play something else from bungie.

    • Nobody wants this tbh...

    • They literally have announced the 2021 and 2022 main expansions for Destiny 2, and they said they weren’t making a Destiny 3.

  • No. This isn't a good release. I was in the middle of the Red War campaign. It's gone now... as is a great deal of other content.

    • @pitch the ripoff so? Diablo 3 is out since 2013, so is GTAV...people still play them to say the least, heck GTAV is releasing over 3 console generations which is utterly ridiculous.

    • @Tyler Durden okay but the red war was available for literally 4 years A year and a half for free with New Light

    • So we live in a world where one can't play a videogame at his own pace without all you little fukktwats calling him out, great. Let him play what & when he wants ffs, and if he complains about the devs just removing basic content, that's his goddamn right. Fuuukk, kids these days -_-

    • The fuck it took you that long to get to the red war campaign

    • Thats not the fault of the dlc.

  • The exaggeration of a black teen

  • I hope blessings and success follow you if your reading this!

  • My Dark Disquiet.

  • taken king was the peak of destiny, not arguable.

    • @Tyler Durden Oh okay yeah that makes sense pretty much non of the changes made to vanilla d2 were good

    • @Dabon Yu the story from Forsaken & Shadowkeep and so on is good, the story in Vanilla D2 was even worse than in D1. With "at some point" i meant the period between Vanilla and Forsaken.

    • @Tyler Durden D2 has many things that are different or weren't in and better than D1. The weapon system, it has dungeons, more supers, the dreaming city and the last wish raid location are some of the best pieces of content bungie has made, and the story from d2 is sooo much better.

    • @AustinRockets8 "...has come so much farther than D1..." Yeah, by implementing more & more stuff from D1 into D2 xD At some point, the only thing good about D2 was the shit they re-added from D1...so your statement is kinda silly imo.

    • @MaiZeAwaKened you see how you brought up about old raids and weapons coming back on rise of iron and moments of triumph just shows that without moment of triumph rise of iron would’ve been such a lack luster DLC

  • is the year 1&2 content coming back? anytime???

    • @izay Well tbh they could literally just watch a video or read the lore Destiny has a notorious story telling they always seem kinda confusing and out of place

    • @James Murphy i’m trying to get my friends in the game and i don’t know how to keep them entertained without story mode now 😬

    • They'll eventually drop back in some of the zones like IO and Mercury etc in the same way that the Cosmodrome was "reworked". And they will recycle the weapons. But the story and strikes from year 1 content most likely won't be.

  • If you play destiny for the story then I'm sorry you're going to be disappointed, it's all about the endgame aka the raid.

  • people still play destiny?

    • @XORILLA every games as a service article; "people still play this?" Such ignorance.

    • top 5 most played game on steam in the past year

    • yes

  • Same shit. Different day.

  • Can't see me going back to this. Spent too much time on this and gave up at Shadowkeep.

    • Definitely not worth the price but I can say it’s definitely much better than Shadowkeep and I actually wanna do the raid. I would definitely recommend getting game pass for it. Only a dollar for the first month too. But yeah do not spend 50 dollars for this. Maybe 40 if it actually had a vendor refresh

    • I came back with Shadowkeep (or rather started D2) and it was awesome with Forsaken after and all the great content.

    • Yeah I bought shadow keep and was disappointed by it never playing this game. Waiting on outriders

  • “Beyond light is the best story Bungie has made in the game” Forsaken: *sadness noises*

    • Ya

    • @John Doe Forsaken had significantly more content and loot. But story/lore/gameplay wise ? I would say the BL is better in all of that.

    • @Debaditya Dutta but we already knew he were gonna die even before, this made it quite predicible. The food of beyond light is that there were many things as the post campaign stories that we didn't knew about and that the lore is really much easier and comfortable to read

    • Forsaken was way better tbh

    • Idk forsaken story was a lot better I liked beyond light but forsaken I preferred

  • FINALLY - No reading on behalf of!!! Grats

  • I want to get back into Destiny but every time the grind just turns me off from the game. The gameplay is fun and they have improved the lore and continue to add interesting stuff but that grind 😡

    • @Yurt El Jefe Silencioso Until they nerf the guns to the ground or disable it in D2. I played both games and I hated the grind in D2.

    • @Yurt El Jefe Silencioso Imaging grinding for hours and days and finally realising the grind was for total bullshit. One of the reason people love grinding is because of the reward. Destiny 2 lacks that. It's itemization is total crap.

    • @Dorky Town B3 is still super fun even without friends

    • @CHEZZ exactly. I love Destiny for it's Gameplay, one of the best ever, period. But i also loved BL2 for other reasons. Then i was really looking forward to play BL3...and turned it off after 1 hour. Imo it's disgustingly bad in every way, and prefering this to D2 is like prefering McDonalds over a nice, fancy restaurant. It's not even close in terms of "quality gameplay". Imo people just like BL3 because it's brainless, dumb fun...

    • @Cult Mechanicus BL3 kinda fell off the game is such a casual game now it’s not fun the reason why BL series popped up from its sales is because the “GRIND” weapons felt rewarding when they drop in BL2 and they were unique BL3 never did any of that instead almost all legendary weapons are obtained through the world loot pool almost all the weapons don’t have anything unique in them and story is just pitifully bad narrative and context wise as well characters felt so out of place

  • I SEE THE LIGHT! 🥴

  • Destiny is improving at being a waste of time. "Alive"? We'll agree to disagree. What's different includes weapons being far less worth chasing now. Maximum 1 year life spans. Not a big deal if you don't play Destiny for more than a couple of weeks

    • Technically all video games are a waist of time so that we can entertain ourselves. The game is more alive than Fall Guys with 6 times the players on steam..

  • When Darkness plot was reintroduced I really thought Bungie is going to give us a choice to sever the connection to Light, swear allegiance to Darkness and create a new dynamic faction of Dark Guardian called Conquerors with Dark power where we fight against other Guardian players but no, it still Guardian mowing down ads wave after wave.

    • Noman is right. In theory, something like that will happen at an alternative time line whit the appearance of savathûrn. And next DLC is called the Queen witch. And the dlc after it is eclipse. So they have time and chances

    • Wait a year. That is exactly what happened in Exo Stranger's timeline. Guardians joined darkness and a huge cluster fuck of war broke out. She killed her own sister. Lightfall DLC is likely going in that direction.

    • Freaking hell that would be like final fantasy 14 latest dlc shadowbringer

  • A much better review than the IGN one. The expansion is excellent.

    • @SimplyJames I’m okay with them taking out Io, Mars, Titan, and Mercury. I didn’t go there unless I had to for season content or Xur. They were taking up space and room for new content was needed. I did pay for it yeah but I had already exhausted the content that was from the removed planets. If you were out there having a blast with year 1 activities and doing them out of pure joy then I can agree with you but my ass was doing seasonal stuff.

    • @shain sanchez I’m sure they are going to be doing something with the cosmodrome in a season. It is a little disappointing that after you do the new light quest the only thing there is a dollar tree Taylor Lautner but I feel like they have something planned for it.

    • @pitch the ripoff I don't play it cuz I'm not stupid enough to pay the price tag for a lot less. They took out content we paid for but you're okay with that.

    • @SimplyJames Beyond Light literally has the best story since Forsaken but you don't like it cuz....oh dear, they had to limit the game's size? What horror, I can't play the same game over and over cuz of a lack of content!!

    • @pitch the ripoff I have played destiny up until beyond light came out. That's where I drew the line.

  • 6:47 I see someone is a Jojo fan.

  • Free with Gamepass(I Think)

  • I was a massive fan of destiny 2 but every update and expansion, Bungie does the bare minimum to even call it an update and calls it a day. I will pass on this one, I really thought they would change after shadowkeep.

    • @Arnab Sarkar tbh most of the raids that were removed weren’t amazing. Leviathan and Crown of Sorrow were okay. Scourge was the only I was disappointed about but The new raid is actually surprisingly beginner friendly I think.

    • @Yurt El Jefe Silencioso You can't be serious about that. On top of so little content, they cut out most of the interesting stuff that was in there. They cut out two of the best and beginner freindly raids in sotp and leviathan. Most strikes are gone because most planets are gone. Prophecy is temorarily disabled. If you look at the free to play model, they cut so much that it is not justified and feels barren. Cutting 5 raids then adding 1 isn't really adding content to the game, you know that right?

  • This game has always been mediocre.

    • @Tyler Durden destiny 2 is my favorite game, I hate it.

    • @Tyler Durden good way of putting it, ur not wrong.

    • Nah, it has always (since Vanilla D1) been very very good and very very bad at the same time.

    • It hasn’t always been...but it is now

    • @Jack Southworth yes I've played it alot

  • 💙

  • Is destiny 2 good?

  • ❤️❤️❤️

  • Hi
