Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Review

تم نشره في 2020/11/21
Cold War's dynamic campaign stands out against bland multiplayer, while Zombies is a good co-op time with a few outstanding issues.
Treyarch's first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can read the full written Cold War review by Kallie Plagge on GameSpot.

  • I got it for the campaign. But the modern warfare multiplayer may be more fun...right now...

  • i dont trust girl reviews xD no thanks

  • Cold War multiplayer is best since at least bo2 and I loved modern warfare

  • Fire team dirty bomb is not battle royale are you crazy the only comparison is getting knocked and the ability to use plates you clearly didn’t play it well enough. Also your better off on foot on crossroads? That’s a complete lie. First of all the tanks have way to much HP not to mention it shoots an explosive round at you I don’t think the commando is going to take out a heavily armored tank the rpg’s in the game can barely 2 tap the thing so this is a deranged review

  • Damm do they ever upgrade their Graphics engine? Reminds me of 10 years ago when compared to Battlefield and Battlefront.

    • It's runned on old bo engines besides the mp is set to be somewhere in 1984 so yea that explains the graphics

  • Just bought it for 40 bucks for the holiday sale going on rn, played it all week with my brother and it was actually really fun, haven't bought a cod new since advanced warfare, excited.

  • Pretty good game. But normal Black ops the host migration hasn't worked a decade ago still doesn't work now. And skill-based matchmaking pretty much ruins an awesome game

  • Who threw him off the roof in campaign mode

  • Easy way to review new call of duty games. Was is a call of duty game made after 2012? If yes, then it won't be more than a 6/10

  • Cold War multiplayer is the best since Black ops 2 in my opinion

  • Woods has all the Exaggerated trauma of a white war veteran

  • Getting a woman to review a Call Of Duty game, is like getting a guy to review a new brand of dishwashers ... No logic.

  • My God its a gun game that has SHITTY Gun Physics. Why does anyone even like this shit?

  • the most broken, toxic, and cheat infested version of the game.

  • Lets keep in mind that gamespot gave Cyberpunk 2077 the same score as Cod: Cold war. Thats how legit Gamespot is.

  • I played last night for a few hours and didnt have any issues. I really like this one.

  • Sledgehammer dropped the ball and Treyarch had to take over and clean up their mess in less than a year. The game lacks content as of right now but honestly it is sledgehammers fault. Also covid really didn't help. People are trashing this game but refuse to take the circumstances into account. Treyarch made the original black ops, have some faith in them.

    • Wasn't it Activision who told Sledgehammer that Treyarch would be the ones making this year's game? Or am I mistaken?

  • I hate ads

  • Bought the game, I love it!

  • Damn she's negative af!

    • Maybe cause the game is dog shit

  • Like your voice ✌️

  • No one talks about how terrible the split screen is 👀

  • the worst cod ever and i've been playing since the original modern warfare

  • Thank goodness I didn’t buy this. Maybe when price goes down

  • MADE IN CHINA!!!!

  • Queria muito que esse canal tivesse uma versão brasileira

  • That's a pretty sweeping statement. The campaign for cold war had awful checkpoints; a poor realism mode and mission extras that completely broke the flow of the game. IW always get it right as they develop the engine. Treyarch have a history of not utilising the engine to it's full potentially admittedly probably due to a lack of dev time

  • I’ve played cod since the first, this is hands down the worst one they have ever made. I’m completely dissatisfied and don’t think I’ll buy again

  • 5:30 Just use the Packed Hauer shotgun.

  • The pandemic excuse is useless. Treyarch has no excuse for releasing a poor product, if it's not ready don't release it. "I'm sorry the chicken is still raw, there's a pandemic and we don't have enough cooks so we served it raw... if you have problems with it try restarting it"

  • Cold War was rushed and it shows mw had amazing attention to detail, graphics, animations , and movement were good for a cod game but now Cold War feels like a huge step back and down grade.

    • @Hogi Nava yea but I personally got used to it imo it's good

    • @Jeanette Mezher Cold War graphics and animations are still half ass.

    • Wait till they add some new content and updates when mw was released it had such negative impact but now after a year it's going good but now they won't be very caring for mw since cw got released

  • I actually expected better graphics on new generation systems, looks kinda last generation to me .

    • @A Man and a Half I'm talking sheer texture quality here, not style. Cold war looks horrible compared to modern warfare on last gen. Like they turned everything from medium to low on 720p

    • @Kevlanco BO4 looked borderline cartoonish imo. I think this looks almost as good as MW2019

    • @A Man and a Half it looks worse than black ops 4 on my Xbox one s whether I play on my 55” tv or my 27” monitor

    • @Kevlanco it looks fine

    • Lol you should see it on last gen then

  • This was helpful.. i'm not gonna buy it

  • beta was shit...just how good is the game compared to beta?

  • I like this game more than MW2019. Seems faster paced and more arcade like, which is what COD always was. Feels good.

  • Campaign should never have hitmakers!

  • Outstrips last years game my ASS

  • They need to take a break on cod lol imagine 50 cod games

    • @JRH they should have a team to keep updating warzone with new maps and have the full team working on the next installment. At the rate their going we gonna have 10 black ops and modern warfare games each which doesn’t make sense.

    • Yeah. They should absolutely take ATLEAST 2 year breaks after each game but they wont because all the kids would get tired of waiting.

    • Definitely.

  • this is an "I'm rich and have the money to drop on something completely shallow to fill the time until actual games come out"

    • @D AE Yes.

    • @D AE yea i didn't even know about I'll give that botw clone a shot too, it's $15 a month which is pretty steep but I'll just come back for a month here and there for "must plays", works with geforce now even

    • @thecodeinecowboy wait you can get newly released games on their membership?

    • @D AE I'd say Valhalla is worth a shot if u just pay for a month of ubisoft plus or whatever its called and then u can try out legion before cancelling it lolol

    • honestly. was gonna buy either AC Valhalla or this, but it seems both have fallen flat, so im waiting on something really good to come out on PC

  • What the hell is she saying that Call of Duty does better in fantasy? Has she not heard of Call of Duty 4? MW 2019 had a much better campaign than this and the details were easily much better on a 2019 game than on a 2020 game. Upgrade the game engine, Treyarch.

    • @Deathtrooper204 really? explain the character models being identical with every soviet and the blood not even existing on the model when shot. The animations were also vastly inferior in Cold War. We get it that you love Treyarch, cuz me too, but this is nowhere near the quality of modern warfare.

    • @Deathtrooper204 That's not what they mean by fantasy, but sure. MW2 and MW3 are grounded in reality with a fictional setting. Black Ops has a complete rewriting of history, which I LOVE. I'm saying that Cold War did not have anywhere near the quality of a campaign as MW 2019 did. The animations, sound, gunplay, and lighting were all inferior. The story was the only highlight.

  • I was recommend to11johncharter_ on IG I never think I can get my account fix but this dude help me out

  • she acting like mounting is a good thing

    • @Moonpie Spotlight it wasn't that bad like if you mount in mw you think you are hidden well but in reality almost have of your body is exposed it was easy to headshot people mounting compared to moving targets the only reason you do this is for camo challenges once that finished there is no reason to mount

    • Depending on how you mean it, it could be.

  • You can tell the reviewer doesn’t play zombies, salvage is redundant for tier upgrades when you do the hand Easter eggs

  • how can you do a review over a game that has barely been out for a few weeks

  • Lame review. She is high or something.

  • I do agree in the fact that combined arms is the best game mode in multiplayer, but some maps like crossroads are a sniper haven. Super frustrating. Aside from that, cartel and armada are super fun

  • I like this reviewer

  • I'm enjoying it

  • It seems a good game but MW is still the king

  • You sound like someone who works at EB games, basically you can only say what you like about the game and can't say anything negative or bad as it may void sales. pathetic. I've played Cold War and compared to Modern Warfare it feels dated as hell like it could have come out 10 years ago and played the same, don't buy it if you loved MW19.

  • I've been kinda disappointed by cold war. I have been enjoying the campaign and the first few times playing the multiplayer on PC was okay at best. It got worse after a recent update and it just keeps screen tearing with vsync on and everything. I am running it on an RTX 3070 so it is not a hardware issue. Tried calibrating my monitors, did a fresh install and still getting issues with it. So safe to say the update managed to make it worse. Hoping another update will fix this overall mediocre game.

  • Fantasy beats realistic approach to a campaign?? What the fuck

  • I'll RENT this game just to see how the new ps5 adaptive r triggers work with a shooting game. But that's it..... I'll get one trophy, then return it.

  • Cold War feels like a solid 30-40 dollar game with a decent but SHORT AF single player campaign. A game that has major multiplayer problems and imbalances. A game that has fun zombies but that's almost it.

  • A lot of people hate the multiplayer but for me it grew on me a lot it’s way better than modern warfare because you rarely see campers and the maps are better than modern warfare I liked both games but for me this multiplayer is just better than that wildfire

  • This is the first review I've seen that ranks Cold War's campaign above MW19's.

  • Dancing Disco "zombies" that is everything you need to know about this shitty game.

  • I really liked the woods and mason dynamic, it was nice seeing them just be buds, but the rest of the story was really generic and not very well told. I like the new maps but the net code is terrible in this, so much lag

  • Call of Duty for campaign,Battlefield for Multiplayer for me

  • There is literally no reason to buy a cod game ever again warzone is free and its superior to cold war

  • bet she says nothing about sbmm

  • Fireteam: Dirty Bomb is the worst game mode in cod history.

  • What happened to treyarch for a while there they couldn’t make a bad cod

  • Wait to buy this game when it’s on sale for 20 bucks, 8 maps is a joke and so is 30 guns.

  • I've noticed that using the camera feature for too long on certain campaign missions/maps will crash the game. Every so often the game will pause too, like there is a smudge on a dvd and it jumps/gets momentarily stuck. Also I have no idea what they thought they were doing with the downloads,(maybe the ps5 changed it and its different for other platforms). I had to download well over 100 gigs of data first off, and none of it was single player campaign. It then made me download three separate sections of the campaign instead of being able to do one whole download. So part 1 was 20 odd gigs, and actually amounted to about 10 minutes of actual gameplay and some cutscenes. At that point 134 gigs of data was on my ssd for cold war, and only 10 minutes of playable single player campaign, which is ridiculous especially considering you can play warzone on ps4. It is not a new feature. Everything is just utterly bloated. There were moments in the game that I felt the graphics in the campaign with lighting, and detail looked great, and then many occasions where it looked shit. Like a proper step down from mw 2019. It was obviously rushed out, and I heard that they switched development teams late on too, which didn't help, but given that activision usually make a lot of money every year from these games, especially after the ridiculous amount of monetisation now, that they could have afforded to wait until the game had more to it. I've had a go at cdpr for delays but mainly because they weren't honest about issues early on and didn't have the sense or guts to delay for a reasonable time in the first place. But as so many games have shown in the last couple years, shareholders and key stakeholders at these developers have far too much control and force out games when they're not ready, leading to disappointment and anger from customers. I made the mistake of pre-ordering the game because I saw the trailer and thought it looked great, and I had played mw 2019 and really liked what they did with the campaign, and mistakenly thought this would follow suit. The branch narrative was a nice introduction and I think could have been great. But it may have also affected the overall crispness of the single player campaign as a result. I thought the lip sync of characters during cutscenes was poor and exaggerated compared to mw 2019, and facial features in general didn't seem as crisp as mw 2019, although mw 2019 looked a little more cartoonish sometimes. There are moments where you can talk to woods and mason in the safehouse and the detail there is incredible. You obviously notice all the imperfections when you slow things down, and I think they were hoping you would miss them because in cod they rely on people running and gunning but you can blame that on the pacing of certain sections of the map that allow for you to slow down and subsequently see where they fall short. I'm surprised they couldn't come up with a voice actor for your character, they have a limited number of options as to where you could have come from and what your gender is, so it surely could have provided voice actors for those options, it's not like your character has "speaking" moments much anyway. When you compare the 1000's of pages of script for cdpr which is a massive open world, the idea that a fairly linear single player game like cod couldn't provide voice actors to do a handful of lines is ridiculous. And the biggest fault of all, when you have eventually downloaded everything you have to, and despite the crashes and glitches, is the extraordinarily short campaign. Now mw 2019 was not long but it didn't feel this short and in this game you get side missions too. Considering how slow my internet is it took somewhere between 30-35 hrs to download what I had to, to play the entire solo campaign, which in gameplay lasted 3 and a half hrs maybe, give or take. If I played it through a second time it would take even less time because I'm not searching for pieces of evidence now. And none of that covers multiplayer. Multiplayer is just rubbish. Many times I've been kicked when I'm doing well, few maps to speak of and as he said some of the maps are too big, too much running around trying to find someone only to get shot by someone camping in a spot that makes them virtually invisible. Mp5s were so bloody unrealistic but that has always been the case with cod that sub-machine guns are choice weapons despite their lack of accurate fire above a 3 round burst in real life application. Zombies is only as entertaining as the people you play the segment with, so arguably do you need it when there are better cooperative fp shooters out there. All in not even remotely near being worthy of the rrp of £69.99 for ps5, I'm just glad I bought it with vouchers used, although I do feel like I wasted the vouchers and could have used them down the line for a better game. If you haven't bought the game yet/were on the fence, I can't recommend it. There isn't enough there, nor enough quality to the product to warrant forking out money for this game. I'm sure they'll have expansions and more maps down the line for multiplayer, and they'll patch the glitches and crashes of singleplayer, and maybe patch some of the graphical inadequacies but that still would not make me play this for any length of time, you will not miss anything sticking with mw 2019 or rainbow six siege, or battlefield even.

  • She calls it Warzone but doesn’t she mean Modern Warfare? Warzone is just the BR portion of the game.

    • @Jackie Paper The movemwnt, gunplay in warzone are the same as MW. That's what she's saying

    • @Chandler Maillard You’re literally proving my point. If it’s part of Black Ops then she’s comparing Black Ops with Black Ops. But Modern Warfare is the online multiplayer, co-op, and campaign. That’s the part she was comparing to Black Ops, cuz like you said, Warzone is PART of Black Ops. Are you thick? You’re trying to explain something to me I already understand, YOU obviously don’t understand what I was saying in my original comment.

    • @Jackie Paper Warzone is literally also part of black ops, did you hit your head or something?

    • Exactly 👏👏👏

    • @Chandler Maillard Yeah my guy, I know, but she’s comparing it to Modern Warfare, Black Ops doesn’t have BR so how can you compare it to Warzone?

  • ...How and why are people still buying these games?

    • Because if I want to enjoy FPS games I have to buy CODs

    • 😂😂😂

    • With money and because they want to.

    • Because they are better than the kids game?

    • Because they’re fun?

  • Am I the only one that actually enjoyed the game? I’ve been having lots of fun playing it. :)

    • @Jedi5150 I understand. The multiplayer is not as smooth as MW but it's still fun in my opinion. I agree with you on the zombies. Its surprisingly really good. I'm glad they came back to what made zombies fun in the first place. Just simply surviving zombies rather than finding where to go

    • This is the first COD where I'm actually having fun with zombie mode. I enjoyed the campaign, but multiplayer has been lackluster for me. But finding how fun the zombie mode is was a very nice surprise, and kept me from being disappointed overall.

    • @Umberto Muniz Sweet

    • @justin yes 👍

    • @Umberto Muniz One of the new maps will be nuketown right?

  • These maps are so bland and they really need to add more maps like tomorrow for the community, people are already so done with playing these maps over and over again because there are so few to switch between. Each map feels the same, 3 lanes, alot of dying and running for a while from your respawn point over and over again. Players are complaing about too intense SBMM implemented and the amount you have to grind for unlocking gear for your weapons..... The mixture of all of these is really burning players out. The sooner they can release a bunch of additional content the better. I just thought of this, remember when we all heard the size of the game file being like 200gb or something. then they released it being alot smaller right before launch.... well what if they reduced the game file so much because they removed maps and then decided to add them later in dlc add on content...... I doubt thats what happened but i still am shocked they came out with such little content and unique maps for the game at release. Its really sad actually.

    • Idk why but I really enjoyed reading this comment and it spit facts

  • with 7 Verdict it is not the Game of the year better wait to buy $25 in meantime we got plenty games to play

  • being spawn killed and murdered the second I turn corners Zombies is great but if I woulda known I couldn't enjoy multiplayer I would have not even bothered with this cod Exo suits killed cod now shit matchmaking will kill it again

  • I think cold war is already better for players who are actually good or j7st decent. The maps on mw just favour the bums too much. Thats probably why i see a lot of people like mw more.

    • The truth

    • @Sam Frauly Nah i'm still playing fortnite, If I want to switch it up a bit I'll just play mw cold war looks dead.

    • This!

    • Frrr dude the game aint even bad

  • Yeah no splitscreen on zombies and buggy on multiplayer

  • Multiplayer feels dated and sluggish. Grenade throwing is clunky and takes forever. Only eight maps on release with only three being enjoyable. This is definitely as step back from MW. Oddly enough with the texture patch I find MW looks better than Cold War.

  • I think MP is better then modern trashfare

  • 7?? Bit generous, maybe a low 5 if that. The game is blow average, clunky, lacks content, old game engine, with poor graphics.

  • This is just full of the exaggerated tension between two global superpowers.

    • Isn't that like 90% of most military shooters?

    • @Dr. G&W I stand corrected Sir ...

    • @- Ali Correct me if I’m wrong but this game features the Soviet Union, not Russia.

    • well, this is a cod game after all Its a BO game so, expect the usuall fun and over the top missions

    • LMAO

  • These have to be some of the worst multiplayer maps in a COD game and I’m hoping they haven’t messed up nuke town

  • all the people giving bad reviews are just salty cause they’re bad at the game

  • This is the only COD I've bothered with since BO2. It's that good.

    • @dazzaburger its about opinion

    • It isn’t though is it

  • Treyarch really got me with this one I did get modern warfare but would get real bored of it after a minute campaign was also meh but now this cold war is like drugs & i am proudly abusing it rn

  • Note to self: GS score is 7.

  • KEY MACHINCS LIKE MOUNTING. Mounting is mechanic for dirty campers.

  • This is honestly my favourite cod game since bo1

  • No.

  • WORST BLACK OPS EVER DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

    • @Rafael It's ok to have low standards

    • @Rox it is tho

    • @O.Spink14 You're delusional if you think this broken, unbalanced and incomplete mess is better than MW

    • It’s better than modern warfare and black ops 4 calm down

    • Black ops 4 was way worse. Once they iron out some of the balance issues and add more maps, multiplayer will be tons better

  • This game is bullshit, how dare they sell this shit after modern warfare. Im disgusted buying the ultimate edition

  • is anyone else getting video lag during cutscenes on the campaign/ Zombies ? (post update too) I'm on Xbox One.

  • Exaggerated perhaps

  • don't forget spawn trapping on half the maps :)

  • Obviously it's a video review since it's on AR-one it's not gona be an Ebook is it 🤔

  • How can I play with the players the reviewer is playing with, they won't shoot her

    • I despise skill based matchmaking

  • Can we PLEASE get a qualified man to narrate these videos. I’m listening to a make-up review here.

    • ok incel

    • Trying HARD to get attention.

  • Zombies ass and multilayer is ass

  • The good mode campaign the other 2 modes are ASS

  • 6/10

  • I got Coldwar, Not worth 60 to me personally. Modernwarfare was...🤷🏻‍♂️ Im tryin say Coldwar multiplayer is not it.

    • @wilhelm scream yea ok the campaign are just a little short as the mw imo. But the game play feels like the games before this futuristic bullshit. Maybe is some nostalgia in a way idk.

    • @Jack Marston I know it was. I just don't like that style of MW game. Plus not a big fan of going from modern weapons to older 80s style of weapons. I'm sure the campaign is fun, but I have no interest in getting the game.

    • @wilhelm scream arcady? what was the og black obs games then?

    • Nope. Too arcadey on CW. I'm sticking with MW multiplayer.

  • ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • I'm staying with Modern warfare.

    • Same. I can't even be bothered with CW. Fun, but it's just too arcade-ish. MW has a nice blend of realism and love the playstyle and big ass maps.

  • I'm actually really enjoying it. The maps are pretty average but it's still fun
